Question: How many suitcases can I take with me on my trip?
Question: Is Airfare Included in the Price?
Other than not receiving instructions on my arrival on the first day (no signs and no instructions which were written in a Globus letter--but I didn't receive one--until the hotel counter shared the letter which another traveler received)--the overall tour was exceptional and one of the best I've been on. This was my fifth tour with Cosmos/Globus. The rest of the tour was fantastic--transportation and hotel arrangements were great. Our tour guide was exceptional!! He brought the history of the Incas alive and relevant to the present culture and life in Peru today. The Nazca Lines was also exceptional and the boat ride to the Ballestos Island was very enjoyable--except there were no penguins--but not the tour's fault. It is too warm for the penguins right now. We only saw the sealions. Accommodations and transportation were great--comfortable buses and free breakfasts were great. I would recommend this trip to Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines as trips that should never be passed up!! Totally worth the time and money--and more!
The bulk of the hotels were of a lower standard than expected from Globus. The tour guide was the only tour guide we had - there were no local guides or Egyptologist as promised in the brochure. Lunch was not included (except on the cruise portion) but there was no place to eat where we were so we had to eat at roadside or local restaurants chosen by the guide with limited choices of what to eat except the option that it contain beef or chicken. The guide did not follow the itinerary as listed, but moved things around constantly. At least one of the excursions, a sound and light show at Karnak was a total waste of time. It was clearly aimed at children more than adults, and the sound quality was questionable at times. Finally, the first few days of the trip spent in Cairo and Alexandria (except for Giza) were basically long and boring. Not sure why they were even included given the wonders seen in the south of the country.

Our travel consultant was excellent very helpful and friendly. Everyone, all staff from the bus driver to the person managing us through customs, getting our Visas and our luggage was excellent and seamless. Especially our tour guide, he seems to go out of the way to make this the best experience he can for all of us. Extreme attention to detail, extraordinary knowledge to ancient Egyptian history. The hospitality across the board was unbelievable. The only negative was missing our connecting flight from London To Cairo. We only had an hour and forty minutes, so any small delay would cause us to miss our flight, which is exactly what happened. We had about an hour delay in NY but made some of that time back, but hit another delay waiting for the bus to take us to the terminal. We still had 35-40 minutes to make the flight but according to British Airways the regulation is that you need one hour to get thru security and to gate. There are always delays and issues at Heathrow Airport so cutting that layover time so short doesn't make sense. I believe it should be a minimum of three hour layover time. It would have been very easy to get an earlier flight from NY to London and avoid the missed flight. This caused us to miss the welcome dinner and getting to know our fellow travelers. Also the lack of sleep and needing to get up early the next day for our trip to Giza. The first day wasn't as enjoyable as it should have been.
