You will also have the chance to meet Iditarod mushers and their famed dog teams to learn about breeding, training, and the big race! We continue to Denali National Park, home to North America’s highest peak, 20,320-foot Denali (formerly known as Mount McKinley), majestically dominating the park’s 6 million acres. This evening, enjoy a private presentation by a local Naturalist on Denali National Park and dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)TOUR HIGHLIGHTCULTURAL GEMS Experience frontier living in an Athabascan village on the Chena River. Here in the Alaskan forests, cabins are made of spruce logs, and the old ways of living with the land are beautifully preserved in the heritage of the Athabascan Native culture. While it was a full daily itinerary I wouldn't want to miss a single thing we saw and did.
I loved the land portion of the trip much more than the cruise, but that was not due to any fault of the cruise line. It was simply my taste in that I enjoyed the land portion better. I prefer seeing the animals up close and personal, which I did. Globus Tours and Affordable Tours put together a very fine package.
We enjoyed the trip immensely and everything was top notch!

The first half of the trip with a Globus operator was pretty good without the need for costly "optional" excursions. The second half of the trip aboard a cruise ship was almost nothing like what we had signed on for- it was mostly just a cruise ship experience rather than an outdoors excursion to Alaska. Most "additional" outdoor excursions carried a stiff cost of $200-$500 per person, so we felt that despite the initial cost of trip the additional expenses were very costly, unlike any of our previous trips with Globus/Affordable Tours.
