Learn More About Celebrity Cruises
Established in 1989, Celebrity Cruises is part of the Royal Caribbean Group. Initially, the company was founded by the Chandris Group of Greece, which merged with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line in 1997. The signature "X" of Celebrity Cruises stands for the Greek letter chi or Chandris. Celebrity has received Gold awards for the best premium cruise ship, Celebrity Edge, as well as for best premium cruise line and best family cruise line. The cruise provider sales to destinations, such as Alaska, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and South Pacific. The cruise line is well-liked by cruise advisors and travelers alike because of its culinary offerings and upscale features. The cruise company departs form U.S. ports, such as Miami, Seattle, and Honolulu. You have a full range of cruise offerings – from small, "boutique" cruises to full-scale cruises that can transport a large number of travelers. For example, the Celebrity Xpedition has room for about 48 passengers while the Celebrity Edge can accommodate up to 2,918 guests. Regardless of the voyage, travelers can enjoy a high level of customer service, as Celebrity has a crew to customer ratio of one crew member for every two passengers. Featured voyages span from two to 17 nights, with many journeys lasting 7 days. Regardless of the chosen itinerary, travelers can expect a full schedule of activities onboard. For instance, you can take part in trivia contests, wine workshops, or learn to dance. Specialty restaurants as well as the ship's main dining room provide passengers with a number of menu options. The cruise line also features a loyalty program, known as the Captain's Club, where members receive information and access to exclusive promotions and events. If you cruise with Celebrity, you can obtain cost-saving packages for use in each Celebrity ship's specialty restaurants. Purchase of a beverage package is necessary for unlimited access to alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. You can also receive this amenity if you elect to stay in a Reflection, Royal, Signature, or Penthouse suite. Shore excursions are not part of the cruise fare, and must be bought separately. Also, port charges, taxes, and gratuities are not added in the pricing.
- A Miami-based cruise line, Celebrity Cruises was established in 1989. Its logo is marked by an iconic "X" design.
- The cruise line features trips designed for discerning travelers who wish to travel on ships that provide modern and sophisticated interiors, world-class dining, unparalleled service, and enriching and interesting onboard programs.
- Besides its introduction of a Century-class fleet in 1995, the cruise operator launched an industry first with the introduction of its AquaSpa® by Elemis.
- In 1997, Celebrity Cruises merged with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCL). Today, Celebrity Cruises is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Caribbean Group.
- Celebrity Cruises launched the Celebrity Millennium in 2000, the first ship to use turbine gas engines, reducing emissions by 95% over the classic propulsion systems. Other Millennium class ships, added from 2000 to 2002, included Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Summit, and Celebrity Constellation, all of which nearly expanded the line's capacity by half.
- Over 100 brand enhancements and "tastes of luxury" were introduced in 2003 by Celebrity. These new enhancements included welcome champagne and mimosas, expanding dining options, cold towels at poolside, and Pilates classes. "Acupuncture at Sea," was another offering, and cruise industry first.
- In 2008, Celebrity Solstice represented the first of five beautiful Solstice-class ships that were "solsticized" to showcase modern upgrades and amenities only found in Celebrity's Solstice class line.
- The Celebrity EDGE project is meant to enhance the cruise vacation experience further with the introduction of ships under this class in 2018 and 2020. Both ships can hold as many as 2,900 guests, and fuse all the best qualities of the cruise line's Solstice-class ships.

Our back-to-back cruises were enjoyable. Good staff, good accommodations. Excellent service from butler Prasoon and suite attendant Kadek. Luminae staff Victor, Jackson, Smilyana top! Did not take any excursions, since we visited all the islands previously. Our goal was to relax and enjoy the newest ship Ascent
Celebrity Cruises are top tier. The Ascent ship was immaculate. Wonderful food and the shows were outstanding. We like the production shows and we were not disappointed. Actually went back to see the later show because it was so good. I would highly recommend this cruise line.
Celebrity Cruises never fail in their efforts to make cruises memorable, fun, and filled with activities, good food, and good entertainment.
The ASCENT is a beautiful ship. We have sailed on many Celebrity ships (EDGE, Summit, Equinox, Solstice, Silhouette, Reflection). One of the recurring comments I heard from fellow cruisers (those who had sailed a lot on other lines) was their surprise at how active and accessible the captain was. The captain, played Volleyball, participated in Liars Club, walked amongst the ship and was very personable. The food was phenomenal - prime rib, duck, sea bass, and even filet mignon. The employees in the shops and the iLounge were extremely helpful. IN short, if you have a bad vacation on the ASCENT, it's your own fault.
