Learn More About Norwegian Cruises
Norwegian Cruise Lines is a premium cruise tour operator. The company was founded back in the 60s by a Norwegian and an Israeli Businessman, who were the shipping magnate of their times. The company started to grow just after a few years of its foundation when they started to add more ships into its fleet. Currently the ships acquired by Norwegian are one of finest and one of the largest to be ever owned by a cruising company. The cruise company takes pride in introducing some of the best practices in the cruising market that are still the part of this company's heritage. They introduced a system where there will be no set timing to dine on the cruise and this gave the travelers a feasibility that they still enjoy. Norwegian cruises have over 450 destinations, which is a huge number and you can keep on traveling with them and will still find yourself exploring a new destinations every time you cruise with Norwegian. They offer facilities like complimentary as well as specialty dining options, comedy shows in their theaters and live musical concerts on the ships that keep their guests entertained during their time on the cruise.
- NCL, short for Norwegian Cruise Line, is a cruise company that has been in the market for more than a half century. Although it was incorporated in Bermuda but has its headquarters in Miami.
- It holds the position of being the third largest cruise operator in the world for having a huge share in the market of around 8.7% passengers in the cruise world choosing to travel through this company.
- NCL stepped into the cruise ship market with a 140 meter long cruise ship. This was considered as a very large ship in those times and NCL then moved on to acquire a lot of additional ships.
- This cruise ship operator is accredited with a lot of innovations in the industry. In its early years they introduced one of the world's first cruise and air programs for its passengers at that time through which the travelers could purchase air tickets at a very low cost and take a cruise after that. This program is known as "cloud 9" cruises.
- Norwegian Cruise Line is also known just by the name of Norwegian in the cruise industry. They have made many big acquisitions in the past including that of the SS France which helped Norwegian to gain a lot of popularity and gave it a lot of space to firmly stand on its own feet as a large cruise ship company.
- Norwegian Cruise Line was restructured in the year 2013 and was made the subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. This restructuring came as a result of its rapid growth and the initial owner wanted to make the company more organized than before
- This cruise company has gone through a lot of expansion in the recent years and in 2017 they announced that they will be opening a new terminal at Port Miami. This expansion has come in place after the overall growth in the industry and an increment in the number of people choosing to cruise in their leisure.
- Norwegian Cruise Line visits a lot of destinations around the world including Asia, Africa, Alaska, Australia, Caribbean, Canada, Mediterranean, Northern Europe and South America. In 2016, they announced that they had made an agreement with the Cuban government and now you can travel from Miami to Havana on every weekend with NCL.
- They have a fleet of around 17 ships as of now. These ships are divided into 8 different classes based on their year of production and also their gross tonnage. This implies that there are almost 8 categories of ships with different sizes in which you can take your tour.
- Norwegian has also planned a project called ‘Project Leonardo' which is a series of 6 ships that they plan to launch from the year 2022 to 2027, one ship each year. Ships in this project are all anticipated to be of the same gross tonnage of 140,000 tons.
- This cruise company has been awarded by the World Travel Awards as Caribbean's Leading Cruise Line from the year 2013 to 2019. It has also been awarded as the Silver Best Cruise Line by Travvy Awards in the year 2018

Minimum Age Policy on Norwegian Cruises
Infants sailing onboard a Norwegian vessel must be at least six months of age at time of sailing. However, for voyages that have 3 or more consecutive days at sea, the infant must be at least 12 months old at time of sailing. A minor is defined as an individual under 18 years of age at the time of embarkation. A young adult is defined as an individual between the ages of 18 and 20. Company policy dictates that a passenger under 21 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 21 years of age or older at the time of embarkation. For passengers under the age of 18 traveling with an accompanying adult, who is not the minor's parent or legal guardian, a Parent/Guardian Consent Release Form, that authorizes the minor's travel and further authorizes medical treatment in case of an emergency must be delivered to a Norwegian representative at the pier during check-in. Failure to produce this letter at embarkation may result in boarding being denied, with no refund of cruise fare provided. Note: Two people under the age of 21 may travel together in the same stateroom if they are a married couple and provide proof of marriage to a Norwegian representative at the pier before embarkation.
If you’re 18 through 20 years of age and you have the written consent of your parents or guardian (parent or guardian must be on board), you can purchase beer or wine for yourself only when the ship is sailing in international waters (except on Alaska and Hawai‘i cruises where you must be 21 years of age to consume or purchase alcohol of any kind).* If you want to gamble in our casinos, you must have a valid ID showing you are 18 years or older. If a Guest under the age of 18 wins in the casino and cannot provide proof of age, he or she will not be paid the winnings. There is no casino on Pride of America.

Dining on Norwegian Cruises
Dine the Way You Want
We believe lunch is when you're hungry. Same goes for breakfast and dinner. You'll never have to drag yourself out of bed for a forced breakfast seating at 7:45 am or interrupt whatever you're doing so you can make it to a dinner seating precisely at 5:45 pm. We also think you should eat with whomever you want so we'll never choose your dining partners for you. Want to meet someone new? We can arrange that, too.
More Restaurants Than Days of the Week
Don't be misled by other cruise lines' dining 'options.' They really come down to some fast-food choices or one big dining hall where you often have to eat with strangers. NCL has a wide variety of actual restaurants with great, new signature dishes in every one. And, with up to 13 different restaurants and dining rooms on board, like Le Bistro, NCL's exclusive French bistro, and Cagney's, NCL's scrumptious steakhouse, you'll find something to satisfy your every craving, every night of your cruise.

Steak and a dry martini after a great day of snorkeling. Sushi to follow lounging by the pool all day. French or Mediterranean after a long day of shopping. Tapas or Tex-Mex before you hit the casino. Pasta and a nice bottle of wine post-sightseeing. Teppanyaki between swimming and checking out the jazz singer. Made-to-order specials at the buffet's action stations when you're finished with your massage. Burgers and pizza to celebrate your youngest's birthday. Or perhaps the most romantic meal of all served in the private seclusion of your balcony. With so many delicious choices, you can certainly eat whatever you want.
Save the Tie for the Boardroom
Freestyle Cruising is not too dressy, not too casual. We call it 'resort casual.' You'll call it being on vacation. By day, almost anything goes. Khakis, skirts, jeans, casual tops, shorts, or whatever are all fine. Casual is perfect in NCL's restaurants too. Even if you've just been at the pool and don't feel like changing, no worries. Swimwear with a cover-up is fine at the buffet and outdoor restaurant. At night, it's relaxed all over the ship. When you're ready for dinner, it's collared shirts and pants or nice jeans for guys. Slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops are perfect for women. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in NCL's restaurants whenever. If you want to dress up and add a little glamour when you dine out, feel free - we've reserved a restaurant just for that. And remember to pack a sweater - air conditioning can be chilly.
Best 'Buffet' at Sea
Forget about those cafeteria lines. Our buffet has a huge salad bar and 'action stations' where you can get made-to-order specialties. Start your day with freshly squeezed juices, a Bloody Mary or a refreshing Bellini. Have meat carved exactly to your liking or choose your favorites to be thrown on the grill. Enjoy a pasta dish made with all of your favorite ingredients, then try sweet dessert crepes with fillings of your choice. You can even whet your appetite the day you board with a sampling of dishes from all of NCL's great restaurants, and, when you need a little boost or just a place to relax, head to the Java Café for delicious Lavazza coffee drinks and special desserts.
Lobster Galore
Lobster lovers of the world will rejoice because NCL has lobster dishes every single night. And choose one night of your cruise for an absolute lobster feast.
Don't Go Away Hungry
Breakfast doesn't stop being the most important meal of the day just because it's the last day of your trip. So take your time. Relax. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and start your day off right. Leave the waking up super early, waiting in a crowded public area then waiting some more to the other cruise lines. When it's time to go, we'll let you know.
Fuel Surcharge Policy on Norwegian Cruises
Norwegian has the right to impose a fuel supplement without prior notice if the closing price of West Texas Intermediate Fuel exceeds $65.00 USD per barrel on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange Index). If a fuel supplement is applied, Norwegian will have the sole discretion to apply the charge to both existing and new bookings, even if those bookings have already been paid in full. This supplement is separate from the cruise fare and will not exceed $10.00 USD per passenger, per day.
Tipping Policy on Norwegian Cruises
Unlike most cruise lines, there is no mandatory or recommended tipping for general service on our ships. While gratuities are not required, our staff is encouraged to go above and beyond, and they are welcome to accept cash tips for exceptional service if you choose to offer them. Certain staff members, such as those in concierge, butler, youth programs, and beverage services, provide personalized service to specific guests and do not share in the overall service charge. We encourage guests to show their appreciation for these individual staff members with appropriate tips. Additionally, a 20% gratuity and service charge will be added to all spa and salon services, beverage purchases, and specialty dining or entertainment-based dining.

The cruise was excellent. Great itinerary, clean ship and good food. Service was impeccable
We adventured into taking a cruise (Norwegian Sky) in the south China seas touring the eastern islands, an area where we had no experience. The experience was enlightening, felt safe all the way. Only the tour guides we had in Vietnam were disappointing with their weak performance english knowledge, but must give then an 8 out of 10 for their efforts
This Norwegian cruise was an excellent choice if you want to see the major Caribbean islands. Starting at San Juan's port and a 7 day trip to other islands. Well worth the time and money spent.
Really enjoyed the cruise and all of the perks we had, great itinerary.

We have taken several cruises on Norwegian, but this is our first time on one of the new Prima class ships. All I can say is "Wow!". We loved the new design with more intimate spaces for people to gather. The ship seems much less crowded with more spots for people to spread out. Being on this ship will make it difficult to go back to one of the older ships.
